What is SLET/SET?
State Eligibility Test (SET), also known as SLET, is a competitive exam conducted for the selection of Assistant Professors. The test covers all states of the Northeast, including:
Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
It functions similarly to the UGC NET, qualifying candidates to apply for Assistant Professor posts in universities and colleges within the NE region.
Eligibility Criteria of SET Exam 2026
Age Limit
There is no upper age limit to appear in the SET exam.
Educational Qualification
General/UR/EWS: Minimum 55% marks in Master’s degree
SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD: Minimum 50% marks in Master’s degree
Final-year PG students may also apply.
