National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the official notification for the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE) 2026 for admission to Class VI and Class IX in Sainik Schools and New Sainik Schools across India for the academic session 2026–27.

AISSEE 2026 – All India Sainik Schools Entrance Exam Overview

For Admission to Class VI

  • Gender: Boys and Girls are eligible.
  • Age Limit: The candidate should be between
  • 10 years to 12 years as on 31st March 2026.
  • (That is, the child should be born between 1st April 2014 and 31st March 2016, both dates inclusive.)
  • Educational Qualification: The candidate should have passed Class V from a recognized school at the time of admission (i.e., by March 2026).

For Admission to Class IX

  • Gender: Only boys are eligible for admission to Class IX.
  • Age Limit: The candidate should be between
  • 13 years to 15 years as on 31st March 2026.
  • (That is, the child should be born between 1st April 2011 and 31st March 2013, both dates inclusive.)
  • Educational Qualification: The candidate should be studying in Class VIII in a recognized school at the time of application and must pass Class VIII by March 2026.
  • Medium of Exam: The examination for Class IX will be conducted only in English.

Nationality

  • The candidate must be an Indian citizen.

Other Key Points

  • Admission will be strictly based on merit in the AISSEE 2026 exam, medical fitness, and availability of seats in the respective Sainik Schools.
  • The reservation policy as per Government norms (for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/Defence categories) will be applicable.
  • Each Sainik School has specific seat availability and state-wise quotas, details of which are mentioned in the Information Bulletin available on the NTA website.

  • General / OBC (NCL) / Defence / Ex-servicemen: ₹850/-
  • SC / ST: ₹700/-
  • Mode of Payment: Online through Debit/Credit Card, Internet Banking, or UPI.
