Medical and Health Recruitment Board (MHRB), Assam has announced 620 vacancies for the posts of Registrar, Demonstrator, Resident Physician, and other equivalent roles in various departments of Government Medical College Hospitals under the Medical Education & Research Department, Assam. Educational Qualification:

A. Broad Specialty:

Candidates must possess a Postgraduate qualification in the concerned subject from an institute affiliated to any Indian University recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) (formerly MCI), National Board of Examinations (NBE), or Dental Council of India (DCI).

Applicable qualifications:
- MD / MS / DNB / MDS in the relevant subject for the following departments: Anaesthesiology, Dermatology, ENT, Emergency Medicine, Forensic Science & Medicine (FSM), Medicine, Microbiology, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology (O&G), Pharmacology, Pathology, Psychiatry, Paediatrics, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R), Radiology, Radiation Oncology, Surgery, SPM (Community Medicine), TB & Chest (Pulmonary Medicine), and Nuclear Medicine.
For Non-Clinical Departments:
- Anatomy: MS (Anatomy) / MSc (Medical Anatomy) with PhD in Medical Anatomy
- Biochemistry: MD (Biochemistry) / MSc (Medical Biochemistry) with PhD in Medical Biochemistry
- Physiology: MD (Physiology) / MSc (Medical Physiology) with PhD in Medical Physiology

B. Super Specialty:

For Medical Super Specialties (Cardiology, Neurology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Neurosurgery, Medical Oncology):
A Postgraduate qualification of MD/DNB in General Medicine
For Surgical Super Specialties (Plastic Surgery, CTVS, Neurosurgery, Urology, Paediatric Surgery):
A Postgraduate qualification of MS/DNB in General Surgery

Note: Candidates possessing DM/M.Ch./DNB in the respective super specialty subjects will be given preference and weightage.

Additional Weightage:

Preference shall be given to:

Doctors serving under Rule 17A of MHRB Regulations
Doctors under contractual engagement in any healthcare institute under the Medical Education & Research Department, including post-PG contractual positions

Eligibility for Government-employed Doctors:

Doctors currently serving under:

Directorate of Medical Education (DME)
Directorate of Health Services (DHS)
National Health Mission (NHM), Assam
Other Government agencies

…are eligible to apply and do not require a separate NOC from the State Government.

Scale of Pay:

₹57,700/- to ₹1,82,400/- per month
(Academic Level 10)
plus other allowances as admissible under the prevailing Government of Assam rules.

Age Limit:

A candidate must not be less than 21 years and not more than 45 years of age as on 01/01/2023, irrespective of the category of the applicant.

Age Relaxation (if applicable):

Persons with Disabilities (PWD): Upper age limit is relaxable by 10 years, irrespective of whether the candidate belongs to the SC/ST/OBC or General category.
