Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025 – Online Registration

Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025 is scheduled to commence on July 3, 2025, and conclude on August 9, 2025. Advance registration for the Yatra began on April 14, 2025. While the official end date for registration has not been specified, it is advisable to complete the registration process well in advance, as daily pilgrim quotas are limited. Approximately 7,500 pilgrims are permitted per day per route (Pahalgam and Baltal), and the total number of pilgrims is capped at around 15,000 per day.

How to Reach the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025 Starting Point
  • By Air
    • Nearest Airport: Srinagar, often referred to as Paradise on Earth and the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir.
    • Key Attractions: Dal Lake, Nagin Lake, Shankaracharya Temple, and Mughal Gardens like Shalimar, Nishat, and Cheshma Shahi.
  • Connectivity:
    • Daily flights available from Delhi and Jammu.
    • On select weekdays, flights also operate from Chandigarh and Leh.
  • By Road
    • Connectivity: Both Jammu and Srinagar are well-connected by road.
    • Transport Options:
      • Buses and taxis are easily available.
      • Can be hired on a daily basis or for the entire tour.
  • By Train
    • Nearest Railway Station: Jammu (Winter Capital of Jammu & Kashmir)
    • Known As: City of Temples.

Jammu to Pahalgam (Approx. 315 km)

  • Taxis and buses are available early in the morning from the Tourist Reception Centre, Raghunath Bazaar (J&K Govt.).
  • Alternative Route: Fly from Jammu to Srinagar and continue by road to Pahalgam.
Pahalgam – The First Halt
  • Distance from Srinagar: 96 km
  • Known for its mesmerizing beauty, with the Lidder and Aru Rivers flowing through the valley.
  • Good hotels available; Langars (community food kiosks) are set up at Nunwan Yatri Camp, 6 km before Pahalgam.
  • Pilgrims camp here for the first night.
Chandanwari
  • Distance from Pahalgam: 16 km
  • Reachable by mini buses.
  • Scenic route runs along the Lidder River.
  • Numerous Langars provide free meals to Yatris.
Pissu Top
  • A steep climb from Chandanwari leads to Pissu Top.
  • Legend: Devtas defeated Rakshas here in a war to be the first for Darshan of Lord Shiva. The heap of slain Rakshas formed this mountain.
Sheshnag – The Second Night’s Camp
  • Named after the mythical serpent Sheshnag, with seven mountain peaks resembling snake heads.
  • Camp overlooks the Sheshnag Lake and surrounding glaciers.
  • The peaceful Himalayan setting and campfire stories of love and legend add spiritual depth to the journey.
Panchtarni – The Third Night’s Camp
  • Cross the Mahagunas Pass at 4,276 m (14,000 ft), then descend to Panchtarni at 3,657 m (12,000 ft).
  • The route is rich with rivulets, waterfalls, and springs.
  • Important Tips:
    • Carry warm clothing and Vaseline for cold winds.
    • Some may feel nausea or oxygen deficiency; dry fruits, lemon, and sweets may help.
    • Seek medical help at the nearest post if symptoms arise.
  • Panchtarni sits at the foot of Bhairav Mount, where five rivers are believed to flow from Lord Shiva’s hair (jataon).
The Holy Cave – Shri Amarnath
  • On the way to the cave, pilgrims cross the confluence of Amravati and Panchtarni Rivers.
  • Many bathe in the Amravati River before Darshan.
  • Inside the Holy Cave:
    • The main ice Lingam represents Lord Shiva.
      • Two smaller ice formations represent Maa Parvati and Shri Ganesh.
  • Pilgrims can return to Panchtarni the same day after early Darshan.

Do’s for a Safe and Healthy Yatra

  • Achieve Physical Fitness: Begin a daily walk (4–5 km in the morning/evening) at least one month before the Yatra.
  • Practice Breathing & Yoga: Start deep breathing exercises and pranayama to enhance your body’s oxygen efficiency.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink at least 5 litres of fluids per day to prevent dehydration and headaches.
  • Eat Well: Consume foods rich in carbohydrates to maintain energy and avoid low blood sugar.
  • Be Altitude-Aware: If symptoms of altitude sickness appear, descend immediately to a lower elevation.
  • Seek Help Promptly: Medical facilities are available every 2 km—contact them if you experience any discomfort or symptoms of high altitude sickness.

Don’ts During the Yatra

  • Avoid Alcohol, Caffeine & Smoking: These can worsen dehydration and altitude-related symptoms.
  • Don’t Rely on Impaired Judgment: A sick Yatri may not be in the right state of mind—act responsibly.
  • Never Ignore Symptoms: Even mild signs of altitude illness should be taken seriously.

    • Size: Not more than 1MB
  • Medical Certificate Upload:
    • Format: .PDF only

  • Age Restrictions:
    • Not allowed: Below 13 years or above 70 years
  • Pregnant Women:
    • Not allowed: If more than 6 weeks pregnant
  • Carry Originals:
    • Bring your original Photo ID and Medical Certificate during the Yatra.
How to Register of Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025
Online Registration:
  • Visit the official Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) website: jksasb.nic.in.
  • Navigate to Online Services and select Yatra Permit Registration.
  • Agree to the guidelines and proceed to register.
  • Fill in your personal details, including name, preferred Yatra date, Aadhaar number, and mobile number.
  • Upload a passport-size photograph and a scanned copy of your Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC).
  • Verify your mobile number using the OTP sent to your phone.
  • Within two hours, you will receive a payment link.
  • Pay the registration fee (approximately ₹220).
  • After successful payment, download your Yatra Registration Permit from the portal.
Offline Registration:

Offline registration is available at over 540 authorized bank branches across India, including Yes Bank, ICICI Bank, J&K Bank, and PNB. The process involves:

  • Obtaining the application form and CHC from a designated bank branch.
  • Submitting the filled form along with the CHC and required documents.
  • Paying the registration fee (approximately ₹50).
  • Receiving the Yatra Permit with the date and route details
