National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the official notification for the NTA UGC NET December 2025 examination. The exam determines the eligibility of Indian nationals for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and eligibility for Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D. in Indian universities and colleges. Interested and eligible candidates may apply online through the official NTA portal after reading the complete eligibility criteria mentioned below.

NTA UGC NET Exam Details

Age Limit

  • For JRF: Not more than 30 years as on 01.12.2025.
  • Age relaxation up to 5 years for OBC-NCL / SC / ST / PwD / Third Gender / Women candidates.
  • For Assistant Professor: No upper age limit.
  • For Ph.D. Admission: No upper age limit.

Educational Qualification:

  • (a) General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from a UGC-recognized university/institution.
  • (b) OBC (NCL) / SC / ST / PwD / Third Gender category candidates must have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off).
  • (c) Candidates pursuing or awaiting results of their Master’s degree (final year) may also apply.
  • (d) Candidates who have completed a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade) are also eligible.
  • Note:
  • Those qualifying the NET based on a 4-year undergraduate degree are eligible for JRF and Ph.D. admission only, not for Assistant Professor.
  • Final year 4-year degree students may apply provisionally and must fulfill the UGC (Ph.D.) Regulations 2022 within the specified time.

  • SC / ST / PwD / Third Gender ₹325/-

  • Upload scanned copies of the required documents.
  • Pay the application fee as per your category.
  • Submit the form and take a printout of the confirmation page for future reference.

  • Last date of online application submission: 07th November 2025
  • Downloading of NTA UGC NET Admit Cards: To be intimated
