Directorate of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, Assam has released the official notification for admission into the one-year VFA Training Course in Elementary Knowledge of A.H. & Veterinary Science for the session 2024-2025. This training course will be conducted at the School of Veterinary Science & A.H., Ghungoor, Silchar and its extended campuses. Eligibility Criteria for Assam VFA Admission

  • Nationality: Candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam.
  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary (Science) or equivalent examination with Biology as a subject.
  • Age Limit (as on 01.01.2025):
    • Minimum Age: 18 years
    • Maximum Age: 30 years
    • Age relaxation applicable as per Govt. norms:
    • OBC/MOBC: 3 years
    • SC/ST (P)/ST (H): 5 years

The selection of candidates for admission into the one-year VFA Training Course is based on a Personnel Assessment Test (PAT) and academic performance. The detailed process is outlined below:

Personnel Assessment Test (PAT)

  • After scrutinizing the submitted applications, eligible candidates will be called for the Personnel Assessment Test (PAT). The total evaluation is based on 100 marks, distributed as follows:
  • (a) Percentage of marks in HSSLC (Science) with Biology 40%
  • (b) Percentage of marks in HSLC 20%
  • (c) Personnel Assessment Test (PAT) 40%

PAT Syllabus and Pattern

  • The PAT includes questions from Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and General Awareness (both state and national importance).
  • The test is conducted by a Selection Board consisting of 2–3 members.
  • Each day, five questions are asked by each board member on a rotational basis.
  • Each question carries 4 marks, contributing to the PAT score (40 marks max).

Final Merit List

  • The final merit list is prepared based on the combined score of:
    • HSLC marks (20%)
    • HSSLC (Science with Biology) marks (40%)
    • PAT performance (40%)
  • Reservation policy of the Government of Assam is strictly followed during selection.

  • Selected candidates must submit a Physical Fitness Certificate issued by the District/Sub-Divisional Medical & Health Officer.
