Assam State Space Application Centre (ASSAC) has released an employment notification for the recruitment of 6 Project Scientist posts on a contractual basis initially for a period of 11 (Eleven) months for carrying out different project activities. 1. Project Scientist

No of posts: 02 (Agriculture Assessment and Fisheries Resource Mapping)
Remuneration: Rs. 30,000 + Employer’s CPF Contribution per month
Essential Qualification:
1st Class Master’s Degree in Remote Sensing/Geoinformatics/ Agricultural Science (Agronomy or Soil Science specialization) / Geography (Remote Sensing & Geoinformatics specialization) / Zoology (Fish Biology & Fishery Science specialization) or equivalent.
Desirable: Relevant experience in Remote Sensing, GIS, GPS, UAV.
Maximum Age (as on 01.01.2025): 35 Years

2. Project Scientist [IT]

No of posts: 02 (Development of Mobile App and Customized Web Portal)
Remuneration: Rs. 30,000 + Employer’s CPF Contribution per month
Essential Qualification:
M.Tech / M.E. / M.C.A / M.Sc. in Remote Sensing / GIS / Geoinformatics / Computer Science / Information Technology OR
B.E. / B.Tech in Computer Science / IT / Geoinformatics / Geomatics or equivalent with suitable experience.
Desirable:
Experience in Spatial Decision Support Systems, Web GIS, Mobile App Development, GeoServer/MapServer, Big Data Analytics, AI/ML/DL Applications, IoT, Dashboard Development, Large Language Models (LLMs).
Strong programming skills (C++, Java, Python, R, JavaScript).
Knowledge of Hadoop, Apache Web Server, IIS, OpenLayers, GeoServer, Leaflet, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, XML, ArcGIS Arcade, etc.

3. Project Scientist

No of posts: 01 (Agro-forestry Site Suitability & Tree Carbon Estimation)
Remuneration: Rs. 30,000 + Employer’s CPF Contribution per month
Essential Qualification:
1st Class Master’s Degree in Forestry/Botany (specialization in Taxonomy/Ecology) with PG Training in Remote Sensing/Geoinformatics OR
M.Tech in Geoinformatics / Remote Sensing & GIS / Geospatial Technology / Spatial Information Science or equivalent with Forestry & Ecology experience.
Desirable: Experience in Remote Sensing and GIS for Forestry & Ecological studies.
Maximum Age (as on 01.01.2025): 35 Years

4. Project Scientist

No of posts: 01 (Border Monitoring, LULC Change Analysis, Geo-analytics using Satellite Data & AI)
Remuneration: Rs. 54,000 + Employer’s CPF Contribution per month
Essential Qualification:
1st Class M.Sc./M.Tech in Geoinformatics / Remote Sensing & GIS / Geospatial Technology OR
1st Class B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering with Diploma in Remote Sensing & GIS / Geoinformatics OR
1st Class M.Sc. in Geography / Earth Science with Diploma in Remote Sensing & GIS / Geoinformatics or equivalent.
Desirable:
Experience in Sentinel-1 (SAR) & Sentinel-2 (Optical) satellite data processing.
Proficiency in GIS/RS software (QGIS, ArcGIS, SNAP, ENVI, ERDAS).
Hands-on experience with Google Earth Engine (GEE).
Python/JavaScript for geospatial scripting.
AI/ML-based geospatial tools for classification & change detection.
Web GIS / Geo Web Portal development.
