Assam Special TET 2026 Notification has been officially released by the Government of Assam for conducting the Special Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for Lower Primary (LP) and Upper Primary (UP) levels. This Special TET is conducted for candidates of Bodo, Garo, Manipuri and Hmar medium in accordance with the guidelines laid down by NCTE. Eligible candidates who are permanent residents of Assam may apply for Paper I (LP) and/or Paper II (UP) of Assam Special TET 2026 through online mode. Candidates qualifying in Special Assam TET 2026 will be eligible to participate in future elementary teacher recruitment processes, subject to fulfillment of other academic and professional qualifications as prescribed by NCTE.

Eligibility Criteria for Assam Special TET 2026

Residentship

Candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam.

Educational Qualification (As per NCTE Norms)

Lower Primary TET (Classes I to V)

Candidates must have any one of the following:

Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)
Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education

Upper Primary TET (Classes VI to VIII)

Candidates must have any one of the following:

Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
Graduation with at least 50% marks and B.Ed.
Post Graduation with at least 55% marks and 3-year integrated B.Ed.–M.Ed.
Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.El.Ed.
Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.A.Ed. / B.Sc.Ed.
Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)
Note: Minimum percentage criteria in Graduation will not apply to candidates admitted to B.Ed./B.El.Ed. courses before 29 July 2011.

Relaxation in Academic Marks

5% relaxation in HSSLC or Graduation marks is applicable for SC / ST / OBC / MOBC / PWD (PH) candidates.
For PH candidates, minimum 40% disability certified by a competent authority is required.
