The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has released the official notification for admission into the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Programme for the January 2026 academic session. Admission will be made through an Entrance Test conducted across the country. The minimum duration of the programme is 2 years, while the maximum duration allowed to complete the course is 5 years. Interested and eligible candidates may submit their online application for IGNOU B.Ed Admission 2026 through the official application portal from 29th January 2026.

Eligibility Criteria of IGNOU B.Ed Admission 2026

Age Limit

No age bar for admission.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have:
At least 50% marks in Bachelor’s Degree and/or Master’s Degree in
Sciences / Social Sciences / Commerce / Humanities
OR
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology with specialization in
Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or equivalent qualification.

Eligible Categories

The following candidates are eligible for B.Ed. (ODL) programme:
Trained in-service teachers in elementary education
Candidates who have completed an NCTE-recognized teacher education programme through face-to-face mode

Entrance Test

Candidates must qualify the IGNOU B.Ed Entrance Test 2026.
Important Note:
Candidates who have completed D.El.Ed simultaneously with Graduation or Master’s Degree through any mode are not eligible for IGNOU B.Ed admission.
