Ishan Uday Scholarship 2025 – Special UGC Scheme for NER Students

Ishan Uday Scholarship is a special scholarship scheme launched by the University Grants Commission (UGC) exclusively for students from the North Eastern Region (NER) of India. The scheme aims to promote higher education and support students from economically weaker sections of the NE region.

Under this initiative, a total of 10,000 fresh scholarships are awarded every academic year to eligible students pursuing:

Scholarship Amount

• ₹ 5,400/- per month for General Degree Courses
• ₹ 7,800/- per month for Technical, Medical & Paramedical Courses

Eligible States (NER)

• Students who are domiciles of the following North Eastern States are eligible:
• Arunachal Pradesh
• Assam
• Manipur
• Meghalaya
• Mizoram
• Sikkim
• Tripura

Type of Educational Institutions

The applicant must be enrolled in the first year of an undergraduate (UG) degree programme in one of the following recognized institutions:

• Universities/Colleges/Institutes recognized under Section 2(f) of UGC Act, 1956 and accredited by NAAC
• Deemed Universities under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 with valid NAAC accreditation
• Institutes of National Importance
• Institutions recognized by statutory councils, both within and outside India

Type of Courses

• Eligible Courses: General degree, technical, professional, medical, and paramedical undergraduate courses
• Integrated/Dual Degree Programmes: Scholarship is applicable only for the UG component of such programmes

Mode of Study

• The applicant must be pursuing the course in Regular/Full-Time mode
• Students enrolled in open, distance, private, correspondence or part-time courses are not eligible

Family Income Criteria

• The annual income of the parents should not exceed ₹4.5 lakh
• Income proof must be submitted at the time of application

Domicile Requirement

• The student must possess a valid Domicile Certificate of any of the following North Eastern States:
• Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, or Tripura

Admission Year Condition

• The student must have taken admission in the first year of the UG course in the current academic session (2025-26)
• Students who already possess a UG or higher degree are not eligible

Interested and eligible students may apply online through the following steps:

• Scroll down to the “Important Web Links” section.
• Click on the “One-Time Registration” link.
• A new webpage will open. Register using your basic details (such as Aadhaar number, mobile number, email, etc.).
• After registration, go back to the homepage and click on “Login to Apply” under the relevant academic year.
• Fill in the Online Application Form completely.
• Upload all required documents (mark sheet, income certificate, caste certificate, etc.).
• Click on “Submit” and take a printout of the submitted application form for future reference.

• Last date of submission of online application: 31st October 2025
• Last date of Defective Verification: 15th November 2025
• Last date of Institute Level Verification: 15th November 2025
